Getting Started

In order to be able to use the etcetera.Mvc components you need to add the following files from the etcetare.Mvc release package to your MVC project:
  • Copy all images in the images/etcetera folder into your MVC project folder Content/images/etcetera. If you would like to have another location for the images, you need to adjust the style sheet.
  • Copy the jquery-etcetera.min.js file into your Scripts folder

Add the following to your site.master or in the <head> section of your pages:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="<%= ResolveUrl("~/Scripts/jquery-1.3.2.min.js") %>"></script>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="<%= ResolveUrl("~/Scripts/jquery-etcetera.min.js") %>"></script>

<link href="<%= ResolveUrl("~/Content/etcetera.css") %>" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

etcetera.Mvc works with jQuery 1.3.2, this is the version that you get when create a new MVC 1.0 project. Other or newer versions might work as well.

Finally add a reference to the etcetera.Mvc.dll and MvcContrib.dll.

If you'd like to use the components in several views, you can add the required namespaces in your web.config in order to prevent adding of the <%@ Import Namespace="etcetera.Mvc.UI.Grid"%> directives in all views.
Add the following to your web config:

<pages>
    ...
    <namespaces>
        ...
        <add namespace="etcetera.Mvc.UI.Grid" />
        <add namespace="etcetera.Mvc.UI.Toolbar" />
        <add namespace="etcetera.Mvc.UI.Calendar" />
        <add namespace="etcetera.Mvc.UI.Progressbar" />
    </namespaces>
</pages>

That's it!
